THE BOAT THAT ROCKED
i am going to plug a movie and if you like broadcast pirate radio from the 60"s then this is the movie for you. its based on the offshore era of the 1960"s when the pirates had more listeners than the bbc which only broadcast rock "n" roll music for a few hours a week. its a simple enough plot really and by no means is it a documentary type movie but i would think it based on radio caroline etc and the way the goverment at the time tried to close it down and the way they invented laws just to do that.
rhys ifans and philip seymour hoffman are great in the movie and bring plenty of laughs and the music is brilliant and to see what life was like on a pirate ship in the 60"s certanly made me wish i was a 60"s teenager. it also makes you think what the goverment and the bbc wanted you to listen to in the 60"s when they went to all that trouble to change the law and even to invent new ones just to get the stations closed. i must say i really enjoyed the movie and have watched it quite a few times which films of today very rarley do.
